It’s almost time for school to start again and I’ve been busy planning for my new group of preschoolers. The first few weeks of school are spent getting to know one another and reading all kinds of books. Below are a few of my favorite books to read at the beginning of the year.
Maisy Goes to Preschool by Lucy Cousins
I usually read this book the first few days of school. It’s a great way to introduce kids the different kinds of things they might experience in a preschool classroom.
The Night Before Preschool by Natasha Wing
This is another great books that helps children learn about what they will experience in preschool.
Today I Feel Silly by Jamie Lee Curtis
This book discusses different emotions and allows children to express how they are feeling at the end of the story.
I Want to be Much More Bigger Like You by Lauren Child
My class has always loved the Charlie and Lola series. This story always gets my preschoolers talking about their own siblings.
Whoever You Are by Mem Fox
This story talks about children all over the world. It’s a great book and I always read it more than a few times at the beginning of the school year.
There are so many great books to read at the beginning of the year. These are just a few favorite.
